Adele Byrne is a woman who was a suspect in the murder of the husband of Belinda Gardner and ordering her own husband's murder.

History[]

Adele worked with the Parks and Nature Reserves Department, while her husband John was a deliveryman. John used his routes to find at least two lovers on the side of his marriage. Adele was furious when she found out, threatening the two women away. Wanting revenge, she hoped to kill John, and her prayers were answered when she spoke with Belinda at the coffee shop Belinda ran.

Belinda wanted her husband Randall dead for the inheritance, so the women hatched a plan: they'd buy separate revolvers and kill each other's husbands, then dispose of the guns to cover up their crimes and cast suspicion on other answers. They were each successful in their respective murders over the week that followed after they bought the guns. The two women were still found out and arrested to be tried at consecutive trials.

She was tried and convicted of murder in the second degree in Gardner's husband's death, but in exchange for helping the prosecutors against Gardner, who was originally acquitted, she was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison. Gardner took the same plea after hearing Adele planned to testify to a murder-for-hire charge. (L&O: "C.O.D.")
