Professor Allan Shaye was a history professor at Hudson University specializing in Tibetan tapestries. He was also the prime suspect in the murder and mutilation of Ajani Haruna, a Nigerian boy who was smuggled into America for modern-day slavery.

History[]

Shaye purchased Ajani from human trafficker Martin Bosa, the smuggler also responsible for trafficking Ajani's sister Na'imah. Detectives surmised Shaye was a pedophile wanting Ajani in the house to sexually abuse while Shaye's wife Maggie was off on an international excursion for her studies. When she was returning early, Shaye panicked and killed Ajani in an apartment covered in plastic sheets, dismembered him, cleaned the apartment up, and left Ajani's torso near a river, staging the scene to look like an African ritualistic "sacrifice". He then gave Maggie one of two charms Ajani shared with Na'imah when they were smuggled, so Shaye could relive the sexual abuse and murder.

Professor Shaye was arrested at a lecture, and despite denying culpability, Ajani's head and limbs were fond in a box in Hudson's storage Shaye had put there. A death-penalty threat caused the professor to disclose information about Bosa being behind the illegal trafficking of Nigerian children. Shaye is currently serving his sentence in a federal prison for the murder and conspiracy of human trafficking and enslavement. (SVU: "Ritual")
