- Saul Picard seems to be based in part on famed children's writer (and long-alleged pedophile) Lewis Carrol. Like Picard, Carrol had two names (he was born Charles Lutwidge Dodgeson), enjoyed playing with words, and fixated on one particular young female acquaintence (Alice Liddell, for whom his most famous creation was named.)
