Law & Order: Criminal Intent is a crime drama television series aired on NBC that premiered in September 2001. Unlike the previous series, CI shows some events from the point of view of those involved in the crime.
As with the original Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, episodes are often loosely based on real crimes that have received media attention, which is also known as being "ripped from the headlines".
