Cyrus Lupo is a senior Detective, working for the NYPD's Homicide Department.

Prior to joining the 27th Precinct, Lupo was part of the NYPD Intelligence Division, rooting out terrorist groups, and previous to that he was a patrolman in the 27th Precinct. Lupo returned to the 27th as a result of his brother's assisted suicide, and later joined with Ed Green. (L&O:"Called Home") While a patrolman, he fell asleep on the job and his partner was shot. (L&O:"Illegal") At the end of the 18th Season, he was promoted to Senior Partner, taking Kevin Bernard as partner. (L&O:"Bogeyman")

Lupo was involved with his brother's wife, Jenny, previous to her marrying his brother. (L&O: "Bottomless") Lupo is versed in the Bible, identifying a quote as from Romans. (L&O:"Misbegotten") Lupo is currently learning Spanish and is taking night school. (L&O:"Illegal")
