Danny also was diagnosed with his own disability and loved Katie deeply, to the point where he never had sex with her in their relationship because her mother Rebecca Tolliver forbade her from being educated about it until she felt it was time.
When Katie was pregnant from sexual abuse, as the police were going through suspects, Danny came on their radar. Danny also made the situation worse when he ran away with Katie after borrowing money from a friend so that he and Katie could get by. However, SVU detectives found them and brought them back to New York.
He was accused by Rebecca of being the rapist but was cleared after he revealed that he told Katie what sex was, but she did not believe him. His words caused Detective Stabler to ask him what Katie said sex was and then he revealed that Katie called sex exercise leading to the real rapist being her boss, Abe Cheney, through the consistent ruse Cheney used on women, which Katie told Danny was saying that sex was "exercise".
