Agent Dean Porter was an employee of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
History[]
He first appearance was when he served as Olivia's undercover agent. Despite being annoyed by her potentially blowing her cover, he was greatly impressed by her detective work and how she connected with the victims. Porter also notified Benson to appear in court. (SVU: "Infiltrated")
He later appears now in charge of tracking fugitives. He comes to accuse Benson of aiding the suspected rapist Simon Marsden after being notified by Julia Millfield that they were involved. He brings her in for questioning and suspects that she and Marsden are romantically involved. However, he is surprised when Benson tells him that Marsden is merely her half-brother and her conception from a rape. Benson promises to keep him in the loop if she finds her brother. The promise is well-kept, but Marsden is able to escape. Porter and Benson interrogate his senile mother and she gives a hint as to where he is. Porter also allows Benson to take the lead in talking Simon down after Millfield is taken hostage by him. It is soon revealed Millfield framed Simon after mistaking him as her sister's rapist when it was really her father. Afterwards, Porter takes Simon with him to clear his name with his superiors.(SVU: "Florida")
Porter was subpoenaed when Darius Parker goes to trial and it’s revealed attorney Matt Braden needed him in court after the news of Benson helping her brother Simon Marsden was exposed. Porter bumped into Benson who apologized for this news but he was not bothered telling Benson that he will only keep ducking him until the trial was over. Benson later told him that he does not have to hide anymore and he understood. However, Porter later notified Marsden about his sister and he appeared in New York to help her.(SVU: "Screwed")
Porter tried to protect Ben Nicholson from the accusations of the Special Victims Unit during a case against Corinne Nicholson. He allowed the detectives to get a DNA sample from Nicholson, after they showed up with a warrant. After that, he told the detectives to back off. He later informed them that the FBI wasn't aware of Ben's whereabouts. Porter met with Detective Stabler who promised he would bring in Ben for him after he finds him. This promise was well-kept Stabler told Porter where to find Ben. (SVU: "Savant")
His last appearance was in "Spooked", where he was sent to investigate the rape victim involved in the drug cartel. It turns out that he was in on it. The last thing he said to Benson after she said "Why didn't you trust me," was "Our feelings don't matter." At the end of it, it shows Benson looking at her reflection in the interrogation room window with tears in her eyes.
It is shown a CIA operative killed two people, then called Porter, who allegedly gave her orders to cover it up. A drug lord named Manuel Rojas was then framed for the murders, and Porter shot him, supposedly to save Benson, when Rojas took her hostage. She later vigorously questioned the shooting, believing Porter's real motive was to silence Rojas about the frame-up but Porter and the killer for whom he was covering up avoided arrest after Cragen received orders to let them go.
