Dianne Evelyn Wiest is an actress who played Interim District Attorney Nora Lewin on Law & Order. She was a regular cast member during the eleventh and twelfth seasons.

Wiest also made cameo appearances in the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episodes "Ridicule" and "Chameleon", and in the pilot episode from Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

Wiest won two Oscars in the category Best Actress in a Supporting Role. The first one for Hannah and Her Sisters (1986), and the second one for Bullets Over Broadway (1994). For Bullets Over Broadway (which also starred Chazz Palminteri), she also won a Golden Globe Award. She received an Emmy Award in 1997 for her guest appearance in the episode "Woman of Importance" from The Road to Avonlea.

She also starred in the films Footloose (with Lori Singer), Practical Magic (with Camilla Belle, Aidan Quinn, Mark Feuerstein, Lucinda Jenney, Margo Martindale, and directed by Griffin Dunne), and the TV shows Life in Pieces (with James Brolin, Thomas Sadoski, and Zoe Lister Jones) and Mayor of Kingstown (with Hamish Allan-Headley).

In 2008, she appeared as Gabriel Byrne's therapist, Gina Toll, on the HBO television series In Treatment, for which she received her second Emmy Award, for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. She received another nomination (in the same category) for the second season, in 2009, but did not win.

During her time at Fordham University, she taught actress Betty Gilpin, who played four different characters on all three primary shows of the Law & Order franchise.
