Erica Hallander is one of the daughters of the Hallander family, who lost their daughter Heather four years before when she went missing.

Erica would have a young son during that amount of time. She was shocked to see a woman, Kristen Vucelik, show up at their door pretending to be Heather, at first rejoicing. When the truth was revealed, the family wanted to press charges, but Kristen was released due to faking her identity to escape captivity and rape.
Erica was horrified to hear her mother say Heather was always dead, as her sister Nikki killed her on their rooftop. When Nikki kidnapped Kristen and tried to force her up the chimney, Erica arrived to talk her down. She at first voiced her shock and told her to let Kristen go, which she abided to, but Nikki nearly jumped down the chimney to kill herself. Erica then pleaded for Nikki to come down peacefully, insisting the family didn't hate her for what she did. It worked and Nikki climbed down to let herself be arrested. (SVU: "Stranger")
