IMDb profile

Fab 5 Freddy (born Frederick Brathwaite; August 31, 1959 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American actor who portrayed Terrence "Fulla T" Smith in the Law & Order: Criminal Intent season 6 episode "Flipped".

Freddy made a name for himself as a member of the Brooklyn-based graffiti crew the Fabulous 5 in the late 1970s. Inspired by Andy Warhol, he painted a subway car with depictions of large Campbell's Soup cans.

Freddy later became a camera operator and guest on Glenn O'Brien's cable public access show TV Party. As a result, he met Chris Stein and Deborah Harry, co-founders of the rock band Blondie. He was immortalized on Blondie's 1980 hit "Rapture" when Harry rapped "...Fab 5 Freddy told me everybody's fly".

Freddy is perhaps best-known as the original host of Yo! MTV Raps, the first internationally telecast hip-hop music video show. He appeared in the films She's Gotta Have It (featuring S. Epatha Merkerson), New Jack City (featuring Ice-T), The Manchurian Candidate, and American Gangster.
