Dr. Farouq (first name unknown) is a Hudson University professor who's leading a crackdown investigation on a plagiarism epidemic of papers and assignments across the university. She managed a program which tracks and documents assignments turned in, then compares it with Internet and news articles to find close and exact matches. Caroline Pereira was revealed to be a consistent author of countless papers for private payments.

Farouq was questioned when Caroline was murdered and her friend Adam Halder sold out her scam. She showed them the program, which proved Caroline wrote all the papers. Tracking the papers led to her most frequent customer, Caroline's socialite roommate Gloria Kulhane. Gloria ordered Adam to kill Caroline when she went into heavy debt from trying to earn even more money from poker, and Gloria simply wanted Adam to have more money to spend on herself.
