Carrie Lynn Eldridge was a girl who murdered her mother Denise in self-defense after enduring years of mental and physical abuse from her. She also had a 21-year-old boyfriend, Justin Sharp, whom Denise tried to scare off, and Carrie was also diagnosed with Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, which was briefly her defense before her abuse came out. When Carrie was tricked into confessing to bludgeoning Denise to death and she found out the truth, she briefly lashed out at Detective Benson out of fury and devastation.

After pleading guilty, she was sentenced to a maximum of five years in a juvenile facility for manslaughter in the second degree after Detective Benson convinced ADA Novak to make a plea deal with her. A poll of the jury showed that if Novak hadn't made a deal with Carrie, she would have succeeded in convicting her of second-degree murder. Simone Bryce was hired personally by Benson to be her counsel, as she knew Bryce from when she was abused by her own mother, Serena. (SVU: "Intoxicated")
