When Kirk mugged Harold's wife Irene, Harold struck him repeatedly with a three-foot-long metal bar, rendering Kirk unable to walk again.

Harold was charged with attempted second-degree murder, but was convicted of a lesser charge of second-degree assault and was sentenced to two years probation and time served.
