Father Jack Malone is a minister who was handing out flyers in a red light district to prostitutes in hopes of offering faithful and humanitarian aid to get them better lives. He found murder victim John Lasky lying on the pavement and rushed to get him help, despite the fact it was too late to save him.
After identifying him and revealing he wasn't a prostitute or trafficking victim and instead a foster child, his killing was revealed to have been unrelated to the district completely. Johnny was robbing his abusive father, Zach Mohr, to support his mother Tori Lasky after they were both thrown out of the house. Johnny was killed by Chris Pollit, his foster brother and accomplice who beat him to death in a rage because they failed their latest heist and Chris wanted the money for his own purposes.
