Plot[]

After the murder of a lawyer, McCoy finds himself on the opposite side of the courtroom from his former colleague, Jamie Ross, when she defends a man who claims to have key evidence that could put to death a man McCoy believes was wrongly convicted.

  • Jamie Ross (played by Carey Lowell) returns as a defense attorney after quitting the Manhattan District Attorney's Office in the season 8 episode "Monster". She is said to be a law professor, but takes on the case.
    • Special billing was given to Lowell (Special Guest Star) in this episode.
    • Ross's daughter, Katie Gorton, is seen in this episode, but has no lines and is not credited.
  • Briscoe describes wanting revenge on a person who killed a family member. While unstated, it is likely his feelings from when his daughter Cathy Briscoe was killed in the episode "Damaged".
