Lainie McCallum was an apartment tenant with a robust personality, which Dr. George Huang diagnosed as histrionic personality disorder, a diagnosis for consistent attention seeking she wouldn't even notice. She can't get over her breakup with Jason Harris, her ex, and although neighbor Daniel Stegman pities her, he and his wife Beth are constantly annoyed by her desire for them to interact with her, along with her scanty clothes she wears around the building, especially at home.

Peeping tom Bryce Kelton across the street spied on McCallum regularly through a telescope and liked to see her dress-up in front of the open window as "teasing". Kelton was obsessed to the point of jumping McCallum at her building and raping her at knifepoint on the stairwell, her fighting enough to cut her hand on Kelton's knife. Congo native Nardalee Ula saw the attack where she was staying, threw Kelton off McCallum and punched him. All three ran off in different directions, McCallum running to the Stegmans while Beth was contracting, interrupting their likely pregnancy.

Lainie McCallum Sick

Lainie's last moment of her life while infected

Special Victims is at odds with believing her account, especially with a couple more continued scenes she ends up making, but she still insists she was raped. Eventually, the open wound in her cut gets infected with the hospital failing in its sterilization processes and bacteria somehow transferring to her. She ends up developing necrotizing fasciitis, a fatal affect of bacterial damage, and slowly died. Beforehand, the detectives take her statement that she was raped and she never deserved what happened to her. (SVU: "Witness")
