Lawrence "Larry" Sheppard is a schizophrenic mass murderer who opened fire at an electoral meeting held by Senator Celeste Kelman. Kelman and six others were killed, while sixteen others were wounded.

History[]

Sheppard committed the mass shooting under the deluded belief that he was the protagonist of a video game, who was searching for his kidnapped daughter. The delusion arose from a traumatizing incident in which his girlfriend, Sandra Miller, who was pregnant with their daughter, got an abortion, not wanting the child to grow up with a mentally unstable father.

Sheppard pleaded guilty to seven counts of murder with special circumstance, and sixteen counts of assault. He was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. (LA: "Hayden Tract")
