Mary Alice (born Mary Alice Smith) was an American actress who portrayed Virginia Bryan in the Law & Order season 3 episode "Mother Love".

Mary Alice was a renowned film, television, and stage actress. She received the 1987 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her role in August Wilson's Fences (with James Earl Jones and Courtney B. Vance) as Rose (a character played by Viola Davis in the film version) and in 1993 an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in I'll Fly Away (featuring Sam Waterston and Regina Taylor) for her portrayal of Marguerite Peck.

Mary Alice was also known for her role of Letitia "Lettie" Bostic on the NBC comedy series A Different World (with Glynn Turman). She also took over the role of The Oracle in the film The Matrix Revolutions following the death of Gloria Foster.
