The SVU investigates the brutal gang rape of a military officer.

Summary[]

Junior officer Amelia Albers is arrested for DUI while on leave in New York City, but her ripped clothes and injuries lead the police to call Detective Benson for help. When a group of soldiers from her unit are named as suspects in her rape, Amelia refuses to cooperate with the SVU for fear of damage to her reputation in the military. When her commanding officer also hinders the investigation, Detective Amaro asks his ex-wife to dig up information on the case, and learns the grim reality that every female officer faces.

Plot[]

Graver testifies for Albers

On the stand, Graver confesses the details of the gang rape and how it was orchestrated by Taverts. He is soon questioned why he participated and he reveals his sexuality, as well as fear of being hazed for getting outed. He then apologizes to Amelia for the role he played in her rape.

Afterwards, Benson, Barba, and Admiral Albers questioned what their next move is. Soon Taverts goes up to Admiral Albers, and claims that Graver was lying while Albers is enraged by his audacity to approach him in the midst of him being accused. Benson tries to have Albers walk away but Albers gives in to his anger after Taverts asserts that his daughter was not suited to be in the military and only advanced because of her family ties, this causes Albers to punch him in the face, which knocks him to the floor.

The Judge then asks the jury what their verdict is. The jury find Taverts and his cohorts guilty of their crimes, to the satisfaction of the detectives and the Albers family.

Outside the courthouse, the Albers family thanks the squad and Barba for getting them justice. Benson comforts Amelia on what she endured and tells her that it will get better with time. Amelia then tells Barba how the Coast Guard dropped charges and how she was generally discharged while voicing her regrets that she wasn't able to become a decorated officer like her father. However, Vincent tells his daughter that speaking about her rape took courage and that he was proud of her. This comment left Amelia happy with his support.

Quotes[]

Cragen: An admiral's daughter comes into our city and gets gang-raped.
Benson: Well, they're not gonna get it from her.
Rollins: And what about the guys she came in with?
Benson: Oh, they're back on their base.
Amaro: Well, military and rape. They won't be happy to see us.
Cragen: Well, that's too bad. We're investigating an assault on one of their own. They'll cooperate.
