Nick “Nicky Boy” Weaver is a loan shark and mobster and the former limo driving employer of Harvey Gruenwald, who would get him autographs and guest appearances from the rich and famous like no one else who worked for Weaver. Weaver was also charged Harvey high interest for loans, so Harvey poisoned James Whitney, the husband of retired actress Marion Whitney, so Marion would pay off his debts.
Weaver was then bribed with an autograph from Marion to get Harvey show tickets so his mother Esther, who was reporting the murder, would be alone to be bludgeoned to death by one of Weaver’s hitmen. Weaver’s mob connections were found out, and Harvey and Marion were arrested when they turned on each other. It’s presumed Weaver was imprisoned as well. (CI: “Unrequited”)
