Plot
Bernard and Lupo investigate the murder of the son of a pair of scientists. Initially, the investigation focuses on a zealous journalist, who has been attempting to pursue a story about his parents' potentially misappropriated research funds.
When a lock of the murdered boy's hair arrives from Amherst, Massachusetts - a well-known college town near Springfield, home to a large public university, and several exclusive private colleges - the detectives uncover a decades' old grudge, fueled by a wanna-be suitor's jealousy over perceived academic and class elitism, which he believes ruined his chance at happiness.
