IMDb profile

Robert Sean Leonard (born Robert Lawrence Leonard on February 28, 1969 in Westwood, New Jersey) is an American actor who first gained recognition for his role as tragic student Neil Perry in the film Dead Poet's Society with Robin Williams.

In recent years, Leonard has achieved international recognition for his role as Dr. James Wilson in the American medical drama series House M.D. (with Peter Jacobson, Kal Penn, and R. Lee Ermey).

From 2013 to 2014, Leonard had a recurring role as Dr. Roger Kadar on the television series Falling Skies. He also starred as the leading role in Swing Kids playing Peter Müller.

He is also a friend since childhood of Ethan Hawke, his costar in Dead Poets Society and Tape. Hawke and Leonard founded the Malaparte theater company, along with James Waterston, Josh Hamilton, Steve Zahn, and Frank Whaley, until Malaparte officially dissolved in 2000, in part because the members wanted to devote more time to their children.

He appeared in the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episodes Perverted Justice, Transgender Bridge, and Catfishing Teacher as A.D.A. Kenneth O'Dwyer.
