Quotes[]

Elizabeth Olivet: There's a lot of pain there. I don't think it's an act.
Mike Logan: Great. So we move on a nun.

Mike Logan: Don't nuns have curfews?
Sister Bettina: That went out with the penguin suit.

Background information and notes[]

  • Based on the Covenant House scandal involving Bruce Ritter. In 1990, Ritter was forced to resign from the Covenant House after widespread reports that he had engaged in sexual relations with several young boys in the care of the charity, and had financial improprieties in the operations of the organization. It was one of the most widely publicized cases of sexual abuse within the Catholic Church, which in subsequent years was revealed to have been widespread. He also left the Franciscans but retained his priestly faculties. He retired to a small town in upstate New York.
  • Actor William H. Macy (Jack Powell) appears for the last time in an episode from Law & Order. He previously appeared in the original pilot "Everybody's Favorite Bagman" as Assistant U.S. Attorney John McCormack.
