Thomas "Tommy" Callahan was a police officer who suffered from insomnia, which resulted in him having memory loss.
History[]
In the aftermath of being jumped by a criminal, Callahan began to suffer from insomnia and memory loss. The only person who knew of this was his neighbor Beth Landau, who suggested that sleeping pills were bad for his health. Because of his insomnia, he would go to places, acting as if he was awake, resulting in him getting into the habit of smoking. During the day, his work ethic deteriorated, with him showing up late for shifts. After three Hispanic men, Eduardo Mercaldo, Ramon Ortiz, and Alejando Alvarez, were killed using his weapon, Detectives Goren and Eames learned that he was late for his shift. As people were out looking for him, he was found in the subway injured with a broken leg, resulting in him being brought to the hospital.
As he was in the hospital, it was revealed that Callahan didn't have a partner, as he was picky on who he worked with on the force. One of the people he had worked with had a habit of smoking, which caused Goren to realize there was something amiss with Callahan. He and Eames headed out to speak to him at the hospital after he was taken off his sedatives, resulting in the doctors learning of his condition. After he was exonerated of the killings, it is unknown whether he was able to keep his job. (CI: "Consumed")
