Tyrell Young is a former gang member who was arrested and convicted for murder due to Detective Nick Falco early in his career.

History[]

As the member of a gang and strung out on drugs, Tyrell committed a murder for which he was arrested by Detective Nick Falco. Tyrell was so strung out that he couldn't even remember committing the murder and came to blame Falco, claiming that Falco set him up. Tyrell was eventually convicted of murder and sent to prison.

Over the next eleven years, while serving his sentence, Tyrell cleaned up his life but continued to blame Falco. Tyrell came to write a book promoting unity between the different races rather than separating into gangs that fought each other. During this time, his wife Angela continued to support him.

Once Tyrell came out of prison, he divorced his wife and became estranged from his children who were angry about the divorce since the family had stood by him the entire time he was locked up. Tyrell subsequently became a suspect when a gang member linked to his son Henry was murdered in Falco's apartment. Tyrell agreed to speak to the police if he could talk to Falco first. After thanking Falco because of the way his life was turned around in prison, Tyrell went on to once more accuse him of framing him for murder. Afterwards, the detectives explained the case and Henry's involvement in it. Tyrell was horrified that his son had turned to a life of crime, having never wanted that for his family and gave the detectives Henry's address in hopes that they could bring him in peacefully.

After determining that Angela was the killer, the police brought in Tyrell to talk to Henry to help convince Henry to take Angela down. Wanting to make things right and prevent his son getting killed or being sent to prison for a long time, Tyrell attempts to convince his son that Angela set his girlfriend up to frame Falco and kill the mother of Henry's child. As Henry continues to refuse to believe his father and blame Falco for setting him up, Tyrell finally admits the truth: he was so strung out on drugs, he didn't even know his own name and when he came down on the night of the murder, he was covered in another man's blood. Since he couldn't justify his actions, he made up someone to blame. Tyrell states that he did the murder and has finally accepted that. Tyrell demonized Falco and so did Angela who is trying to get revenge for the destruction of their marriage. Tyrell helps convince Henry to set Angela up and force her to confess to her actions.
